Esther Teo, CFA, Deputy Managing Director & Chief Fixed Income Officer
Esther Teo is the Deputy Managing Director and Chief Fixed Income Officer of AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”). Since joining the firm in 2004 as a portfolio manager, she has been instrumental in managing institutional and unit trust fixed income portfolios and expanding the firm’s investment capabilities to include managing domestic, Asian, global, and ESG fixed income strategies. Under her leadership, AHAM Capital’s fixed income funds have consistently ranked among Malaysia’s top performers. Recognized by The Asset as one of Malaysia’s most astute investors, she has earned accolades for her expertise in both Malaysian Ringgit bonds and Asian G3 currency bonds.
Beyond investment management, Esther plays a critical role in advancing the firm’s sustainability and corporate responsibility agenda. She serves as Chairperson of the AHAM Group Sustainable Management Committee (GSMC) and is a member of the AHAM Capital Sustainability Investment Committee. She is responsible for overseeing the firm’s ESG corporate strategy and policies, ensuring the seamless integration of ESG considerations into the investment process. Additionally, she leads the firm’s Corporate & Community Relations initiatives, guiding efforts in financial literacy, education, and environmental impact projects as part of AHAM Capital’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment.
In 2025, Esther was appointed Deputy Managing Director, broadening her leadership role to drive the firm’s strategic initiatives. In this expanded capacity, she oversees and integrates efforts across Product Solutions, Institutions, Corporate and High Net Worth (ICH) Business, and Public Sector Business, supporting the firm’s long-term growth and positioning AHAM Capital as a leading asset manager.
Prior to joining AHAM Capital, Esther was a portfolio manager in RHB Asset Management. She began her career in financial advisory at KPMG Malaysia in 1999, specializing in corporate debt restructuring and recovery.
Esther holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from the University of Melbourne. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and holds the CFA ESG Certification.
